Different Suits

In Fashion on April 15, 2009 at 1:52 pm

“If superheroes have different costumes, I have different suits.”

Iron Man has different armours and Batman has different suits for certain environments. Sometimes, I feel like them. I swear!

I too have adopted their ways of having different suits at different times. But of course, these are suits of a different nature altogether. What I’m talking about here is the outfits that I wear. I said I feel like I am them because of I myself have various outfits or sets of clothes particularly for different occasions. And, you should too!

Messing Up When You’re Dressing Up

Often people find themselves getting into a mess when dressing up. One of the common reasons I hear is – “ I don’t know what to wear.” Or the next common one – “I don’t have enough clothes, I got to get more!”  Now, the second reason would be an alarming cry for concern especially with a bad economy looming over us right now. For the first one however, fret not, I have a cure for that!

A 2-minute List That Can Save You

Now before you go out shopping the next time, I want you to do a little assignment. Don’t worry it is not going to be time consuming or painfully difficult. Just 2 minutes. So here’s what you do.

You sit down and list out the events and occasions you find yourself in on a daily basis.

For example:

1) Work

2) Partying

3) Dinner functions

4) Dance class/sports/hobby day

5) Beach day

6) Exercise

Now that’s just a random example I thought off. Your list could be totally different, depending on your lifestyle. So to put it simply, with that list that you have drawn up, it’s time for you to go into details.

Take for example 1) Work. What kind of job do you do? If you’re in finance or the government sector, then you should plan to furnish yourself with some decent work clothes. If you’re in the entertainment line like me, then t-shirts with really unique designs or a nice form-fitting long sleeve shirt with jeans will do.

Organising Your Wardrobe – The Next Step

Once you’ve gotten the details down, it’s time to compartmentalise your wardrobe. Sounds weird? I guess, but… it saves you the hassle of figuring out what else to wear and how to mix and match your clothes. Put your wardrobe into compartments and have a mental note, or better yet a physical one -stating the kind of clothes in the compartments (eg. work, party). I’m not going to tell you how to arrange them, I’ll leave this up to your creativity. Make it simple and easily accessible.

Once you’ve done these few easy steps, you’ll find it a lot more easier to dress up according to the occasion and you won’t be left with wondering what to wear. Have fun trying it out!
